Senidah is objectively one of, if not, the most iconic music artist in the entire Balkans. It’s not difficult to realise why she is regionally adored, as she seamlessly connects with her fans from many countries that once existed as one. Listed below are most there is to know about the Diva who sells out concert venues and never leaves the audience indifferent.
She released her first song around 2010
2026 makes it 15+ years since Senidah started her career, then part of a Slovenian band called Muff as the lead female among 4 male band members, until 2018 when she went solo. Muff’s self-titled and only album was awarded best album of the year by Golden Pipe in 2014.
Where is Senidah from?
Everywhere and nowhere. It’s complicated, to say the least. As the popstar said herself: “Some people perceive me as their own, and some will never accept me.” She was born in Slovenia to Montenegrin parents and bears a Bosnian name. She partially resides in Serbia as of now and her songs make for a linguistic cocktail of the places she’s associated with. Real Yugoslav.
Some people perceive me as their own, and some will never accept me. Let’s say, I will never be accepted in Slovenia because my last name is “ić”. My roots are from Bosnia and Montenegro… Well, even in Belgrade I’m not, let’s say, Ivana, but I’m Senidah. I come to Sarajevo, so I’m not from Sarajevo, but from Montenegro. I can’t please anyone. And then I’m glad when people consider me their own.
Body of Work
Senidah’s debut single “Slađana” was re-released under Bassivity Digital, Serbia’s forefront record label, after signing with them in 2018 and the music video has since broken records. She is the first Balkan artist to reach 700,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and the number currently over 1 million.
She has 3 albums so far; “Bez Tebe”, “Za Tebe” and “Sen i Dah” with tens of singles among which many hits can be counted like “Behute”, which today has more than 36 million views on YouTube.
